Yesterday made it the twelfth week since I had my last relaxer. The picture in the center and on the right are the newest ones. I just finished air drying my hair so that's my length with a helluva lot of shrinkage included. I stretched a piece from the center in the right picture, even though I should've stretched the back since it's the longest. Regardless of the stretching, you really won't be able to see how much my hair grew until I relax. What I noticed during this stretch is that my hair is getting a little bit thicker (THANK GOD!) and that I haven't had as much shedding as I used to when I first started stretching. My new growth is finally cooperating with me. I guess that's due to me using my trusty ol' Jilbere and my new lover, Denman D3. Anyway, for the last few weeks, my regimen has been changed. Here's a look at what my new regimen is:

  • Shampoo with Creme of Nature Ultra Moisturizing twice a week (will be replaced with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration soon)

  • Condition with VO5 Moisture Milks after each shampoo

  • Deep condition with ApHogee 2 Minute Reconstructor once a week followed by my Clairol conditioner (the one that came with my Natural Instincts box)

  • Use my homemade water/glycerin/Infusium 23 as a leave-in

  • Co-wash with Suave Humectant once or twice a week

  • Detangle with Jilbere or Denman D3

  • Air dry ALWAYS
I can't really tell you when I'm going to relax since I'm actually having fun with this stretch, but it'll probably be soon. Stay tuned...

By the way, did you notice that I made it to bra-strap length? I didn't really notice until I did the comparison picture. I can't wait until I relax to see how much more length I'll gain!

Nice growth!! =)

So in total, do you wash your hair 4 times a week? (2 poos + 2 co-washes?)

Thanks ladies for all the great comments!

Ms. S, I do wash my hair a lot, huh? LOL. All that washing is what makes my hair stay healthy.

Hey Cheveux,

when you air dry what do you do for it to be so straight ( i know theres shrinkage) but I try to air dry its this big POOF ball, what do you do?

The thing that makes my hair as straight as it can get when air drying is using a leave-in. Using a leave-in flattens out the cuticle, keeping it from becoming frizzy.

What you also can do to make your hair as straight as possible is a wet wrap. Add a little leave-in and wrap your hair around your head. Put a wave cap on and allow it to dry overnight (I learned this trick from a member on a hair forum I belong to).

This is a very good way to get straight hair, but it doesn't work for everyone.
