I've been natural for one month already! I decided that I would start chronicling my journey as a natural. So, here's part one of the series.

Positives
I can wash my hair EVERYDAY.
The Denman and I are best friends again.
No more fighting with two different textures.
The SO loves it.

Negatives
My hair HAS to stay moisturized or it becomes severely dry.
My wide-tooth comb is useless at this point.
I secretly miss my long hair. LOL.
My family hates my hair. (They're all relaxed and/or wear weave)

Growth
I think my hair is at its resting phase because it doesn't seem like it's growing, but then again, when you see your hair too much, you never think it's growing.

Congrats on your new journey! I'm trying to stay natural, but I'm so tempted to run to the beauty supply shop and buy packages of hair! Keep taking care of it and it will be even more lovely!!

And this too shall pass....believe me. You'll go through a rollercoster of emotions...one day you'll love your hair and the next day you'll hate it. However, eventually you'll come to a place where you're like "I love my hair." Just be patient. As for your family...they'll be envious at the fact that you were brave enough to forego all of the relaxer and weave madness. Good luck!

Congrats - on your one month :o) Your hair looks very thick and healthy. I agree with the commenter 'this to shall pass' soon people in your family will be asking you to 'do their hair like yours' like it's something that can be done in a day ;o)

Congrats. I've been natural for 24 months. I did my big chop about 11 weeks ago. My family HATES it. But theyre getting use to it. I love it and thats all that matters. You will go thru a range of emotions but its so worth it.

I've been an avid weave and extension wearer for many, many years. While I have my weave today I'm so over it, my hair is so damaged I've decided to have the chop and go au natural. You've inspired me!

My family members are the same when it comes to hair. Last time I went natural, they complained all the time that it looked uneven. That it was too "wild," and that maybe I needed to go ahead and "perm" it. I was so depressed at my 2nd baby shower because my mother had convinced me that my big hair was too much for the conservatives to handle. I cried when I put the texturizer in my hair, just for my father to run into the bathroom to tell me don't do it, lol.
Looking at your hair, it looks like it has gotten fuller since your BC. I'm proud of you, and embrace your kink! I'm currently transitioning because hair hates the chemicals.
