The story behind the BC:
Over the past few months I've been seeking as much 'knowledge of self' as possible. In these studies, I wanted to dissect as much about myself as possible. Find the why behind everything. In terms of the food I chose to eat, the activities in which I chose to indulge, etc etc, leading into me and my hair.
When delving into the issue of hair... I researched the origin of the relaxer, dissecting why we relax our hair, questioning why do we choose to assimilate, the messages we send when we wear relaxed hair etc etc. But 'on the surface' it didn't make sense either. Why are we letting someone (who HAS to wear gloves) put a CHEMICAL on the closest pores/follicle to our brain!?! Why do we 'hate' our new growth?
From there, the decision was made! I had to immediately cut it off. I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin until I cut it. My barber and I chose to wait for a full moon. So I waited for about a week and a half before the actual cut: felt like a month!

How inspirational! I love the line about someone having to put on gloves. That's why I stopped relaxing.

That is awesome, what's even more awesome than awesome is the fact that you did it for yourself and not for a fad. Beautiful cut on a beautiful young lady.

That was awesome. And the design. Wow. If I had a nice hair line like that I would have gone lower and did something hot like that too.

U r beautiful.. before and after.. I think after even moreso because that is who you are meant to be.. You naturally no perservatives or additives.. I love the back to self.. it's true I think alot about what I put on my hair and skin and just about as much what I choose to put in my body.. It is your temple and you are the caretaker.. You made a wonderful choice for your life and you look good doing it!! You go Gurl..

That is not my reason for stopping chemicals. An ideological reason. Very inspirational, but I am more of a rational person.

You have done the right thing and your mind, body and soul will thank you for it. Loved the video. When I chopped mine off, I attended class that morning and just decided to do it during my lunch break. Kinda wish I had a video to save the moment. Anyway, I love the design too. Very nice!
