Rating: Excellent! (10/10)

Product Name: Kinky-Curly Curling Custard & Knot Today
Price Range: CC $29.99-31.99 (16 oz) KT $11.99-13.99 (8 oz)
Company: Kinky-Curly (http://www.kinky-curly.com/)
Catch Phrase: CURLING CUSTARD™ gives moisture and curl definition, hold and brilliant shiny hair all in one product! KNOT TODAY™ is a creamy herbal conditioner and detangler designed to smooth the cuticle and remove knots, snarls and tangles from thick curly textured hair.

Okay, I really wasn't willing to spend 30 bucks on a product that may or may not work. Even the cashier woman at Whole Foods told me, "You do know this is a thirty-dollar gel right? I wouldn't buy it." Ha ha. So, over the next few days, I used only the Curling Custard and Knot Today... best decision EVER! The products work sooo well together and I love the coil definition I'm getting. The only downside is that I'm almost done with the Knot Today Conditioner. I can finally see why so many women swear by these products; they're wonderful. I seriously love the feel of my hair. I added some pictures and if look, you can see that my hair clumps together better. Has anybody tried it? Share your experiences!

Ingredients: (KCCC) botanical infusion of water, horsetail, chamomile, nettle and marshmallow, organic aloe vera juice, agave nectar extract, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), pectic, citric acid, potassium sorbate and natural fragrance (KCKT) organic Mango fruit extract, organic slipper elm, organic marshmallow root, organic lemongrass, cetyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol and natural fragrance.

Sorry if you already mentioned this in a past blog, but what is the texture of your hair? You're not 4a or 4b are you? Just curious. Thanks!

Love these products. I have had these 2 products since april and I agree with you on the usage of the leave in vs. the custard. I haven't tried the revival spritz but I saw a pretty good review on youtube.

Your kinks look great. I haven't tried any of the products, but I've heard nothing but good things about the brand.

Thanks for this. I've been wanting to try this forever, but like you didn't wanna spend that much $. I have 4b hair, too. Looks like I'm just going to have to try it soon!!!

For a long time I didn't see what all the hype was about. I tried to use it for a wash n go and I looked like I'd escaped from an insane asylum.

But now I use just a drop for my twist outs and my hair looks and feels amazing. I love it.

My only complaint is the shipping cost if you don't live near a retail store that sells it. The company charges $15 for shipping! UPS does not charge them $15 to ship. It's $8. They are getting a markup on the shipping.

How shady is that?

I love KCCC and KCNT. Her prices, to me, are in line with other "natural" hair product lines. For me, the KCCC lasts a long time when compared with other natural gels. My first jar lasted 4 months so when you break out the cost on a monthly basis, it doesn't seem quite as bad.

Well, I must say I was a little scared at first, the detangler "knot -today" directions said to drench the hair before applying; that was messy. After a comb-thru you can see the definition. A close friend was just as excited as I was. She not only applied the products(curling custard & Knot-today) to my hair but also diffused it. To make it really tough, I deliberately didn't comb my already coarse hair for 2 days! After shampoo, it worked as soon as I put it on. So far the curls are still in and it feels nice. I would have liked to buy the pomade for touch-ups the next day. Overall I am pleased. I'm looking forward to trying these products on someone with finer hair to see the result. It's a good buy, don't let the price scare ya.:)

hey,

could you all do a product review on either the whole silk elements line or Aveda's smooth infusion line?

Aveda in general is great stuff (I recommend the Brilliant and Damage Remedy lines) but they swear that the smooth infusion line will smooth even the most coarse and thick of hair.

Love what y'all are doing, really helps to find a community of people who are natural and/or going natural.

I will definitely try the Aveda Smooth Infusion line. Thanks for the suggestion!

i have decided to go back to kinky curly products. After 2 and a half months of trying everything from co washing (which i do like), to trying the right protein moisture combination, to trying to find the right gel to go with the right conditioner, trying to find the right conditioner to go with the right gel, trying to find the right conditioner to co wash with(since i just found out, I'm protein sensitve). and to top it off, TRYING TO FIND MY RIGHT MIND IN ALL OF THIS, i decided the heck with this. Im going back to kinky curly..I used it when i got my hair chopped off back in July and I thought I could find something cheaper. well i did for a while..i thought the eco styler gel and the co washing with v05 worked and it did for a while, but here recently, i started getting dull looking hair.. I also tried the Bedhead Moisture maniac and my hair was looking good for a while, and there again, my hair was looking dry and dull. Then all of a sudden I took all of my products and read all the ingredients and found out that everything i was using including the ecostyler has PROTEIN in it. So I just said, "welp, that's it for me". this hair thing is driving me insane. I 'll just go back to what i know works..Kinky curly worked fine for me and I really don't think I'll be changing again,(unless she changes her products, then I'll have to start this whole process over again)
