Your name/username
My name is Laine Diane Lina my username Laine Didi Lina

Where are you from?
Paris, France

How long have you been transitioning?
I have been transitioning since July the 15th

Tell us your hair story. Why did you decide to transition?
I decided to transtion because i had lived all my life without knowing my natural hair texture. My mother who is a chinese/indian mixed woman relaxed my hair early. I was about 3 or 4. She didn't really know how to manage them plus she thought that straight hair was the best (and i think she's still thinking that). It hurts me sometimes when i think about this but i don't blame her. She has grown with this false ideas...So i grew up in relaxing my hair, hidding them under weave or sew-in to be like my cousins. Then this year i knew that I couldn't go through this anymore.
I tried to transition once in january 09 but I relaxed my hair in April. I don't why i did it. Maybe I wasn't ready. Then i tried in July and cut my relaxed hair in October. I woke up and knew that I wanted it so much.

What have you discovered so far in your transitioning journey?
I've learn to use the most natural products i can, drink lot of water: Now i can't even think of drinking soda and have a healthy diet. I've also learn to love me the way i am and not try to be like the girls i'd love to be.

What technique has helped you the most during your transition?
Moisturize a lot to avoid breakage, perpooing and Deep conditioning a lot. Braid outs helped me too.

Your advice to the readers
Euhh well...Be patient! Never forget why you're doing this cause this is the result the most important thing! Never let your goal down!!

Get a New Look with Hair Wrapping and Hair Braiding

For the women, arrangement of hair always remained an important part
of dressing of all hair arrangements, braiding remained a traditional
favorite with women with different cultural backgrounds. From simple
braid to French braid and fishbone braid---there are several braiding
styles to complement the shape of your face.

Hair wrapping on the other hand is a fun way of adding some color
to your everyday hair style. This kind of hair style is helpful in
keeping the unruly hair in control. Originally, hair wraps were used
to keep the hairs clean and tangle free. Go dancing or swimming, hair
wrapping will help you keep your hair safe, while looking stylish.

As a hair style technique, hair wrapping and braiding go hand in hand.
To wrap your hair, you will need to take small parts of hair and make
small braid all the way down the hair. The color is added by wrapping colorful threads and flosses around the braid. The threads are secured with a double knot at the bottom. Larger you want your wrap to be, longer should be the length of your braid.

The coldness of the winter months can wreak havoc on your precious strands. Split ends, brittleness, and dry frizz are just a few of the undesirable effects that a cold environment can yield.

However, the even bigger culprit is indoor heating—which is essential unless you’d like to walk around wearing a parka. Nonetheless, there are several ways to protect yourself from the harsh elements this winter, heat included! Here are some of our favorite winter hair tips:

Hot Oils
As simple as grabbing a tablespoon of the extra virgin olive oil you keep on your counter, this treatment is a must! Simply apply to damp hair and work into your strands and then wrap your head with a hot towel. Let sit for 15 minutes and remove. The oil will nourish and repair hair damage while also helping to seal in moisture. Use as often as necessary!

Deep Conditioning Treatments
Deep conditioning treatments like the “Rescue Me Hair Mask” are fantastic because they restore essential vitamins and nutrients to your locks, while replenishing and locking in moisture for longer periods. A simple 5-10 minute treatment on towel-dried hair is enough to leave your hair looking luminous and silky throughout.

Simple Hairstyles
Throwing your hair into a bun or a fishtail braid not only looks great, but will protect against split-ends and shedding caused from additional manipulation of the hair. Many of us tend to “finger comb” our hair throughout the day and this can cause increased breakage, something that happens even more often during the colder months!

Washing Your Hair Less
Last, washing your hair less will help to preserve the moisture in your strands by letting your hair’s natural oils keep intact for longer. Worried about having oily roots? Don’t fret. Let No H20 Volumizing Dry Shampoo by Milani Hair work its magic!
