I just came back from the dermatologist and he told me that I have Alopecia Areata. I had been losing hair for some time around the crown and I figured just as much. It affects perfectly healthy people and is pretty rare. I was given a few injections in my scalp to help stimulate hair regrowth. I have to go back in four weeks. I'll update again soon.

So sorry to hear this Belle. I had alopecia areata many years ago. The patch was big and round and smooth, as if no hair ever grew there. The dermatologist prescribed some kind of keratin gel and advised me to use a hand-held massager (with small nubs) on the area for 5 minutes morning and night. Eventually I began to see some fuzz there and after some months the area was totally filled in. Even though the cause is unknown, mine was attributed to stress. Take care of yourself and hope this turns around really soon!

Sorry Belle, I had the exact same thing happen to me and it reoccurs every now and again. I massage my scalp exactly like Lavender said and it has helped a lot. I will be going to the dermatologist soon as well. Hopefully your shot will help. If my doc recommends anything different I'll let you know. God bless!

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have alopecia as well. I don't even have any hair on my scalp, and my eyelashes/eyebrows are falling off as well. Hopefully the injections work, I was getting injections before ( when I first got alopecia in 06) but now I use natural herbs from israel. The man who discovered it is : Shmuel Gonen. heres his website:http://www.shmuel-gonen.com/english/

Please keep your head up. I was diagnosed with this 10 mos ago & just keep ur head up & continue to take care of ur hair because it will grow back. Mine was exactly like that & thank god for the treatments. I took 2 injections & topical treatment..just the injections makes the process faster & u soon seen fuzz..it had me devastasted when I saw this big bald spot on top of my head it was very frustrating. But its growing back and it will be year soon. mine was from my thyroid & probably stress...so just have faith & alot of patience..

Thank you everyone! I think the underlying problem is iron deficiency and/or hormonal imbalance. I've been keeping my scalp squeaky clean and doing daily massages.

I had it last year and my dermatologist gave me the steriods shots to the scalp as well. I think it is a series of 3 injections (check with your doctor). After the first course i started seeing the difference within 2-3 weeks. In 3 months there were lots of baby hairs. Don't stress out...your doctor is on the right path of treatment. I also take supplements like biotin and salmon fish oil capsules.

Hi Belle, I also have alopecia and it is absolutely devastating! My hair loss was at my crown as well and was mostly due to hair neglect! Well needless to say you don't miss something till it's gone! Well my hair is a priority now and hair weaves got me through that period. My heart and prayers goes out to you so stay diligent, it will soon pass!

My hair transplant surgery was ruined by Dr Nicholas Agnesi of Hairline Clinic in Akron and Independence Ohio. He disregarded my specific wishes, wiped the pattern that I drew off my head, and got the hairline all wrong. He also harvested the wrong hairs from the base of my skull.

The hairs he took don't grow well at all. They never have. He should have taken the hairs at least on inch higher. Everyone agreed that I had plenty of donor hair but Dr Agnesi didn't bother to take the best hairs. He just rushed through the job and took the wrong hairs at the base of my skull.

When I let Dr Agnesi know what he did wrong, he said that he might be willing to replace the bad hairs after I talk to the president of Hairline Clinic Rob Hoffman. It had to be his call. But when I talked to Rob Hoffman at the Akron location, he refused to even look at the bad work. He just pretended everything was fine and refused to do anything about it. No fix. No refund.

I knew those hairs would never grow well so I was left with no choice but to rip all those bad grafts out myself before they healed. It was a nightmare but I got it done. Now I'm out thousands of dollars and I have nothing to show for it but a bad memory and a nasty scar at the base of my skull.

Dr Agnesi also works for Advanced Hair Restoration of Ohio.

Now I'm talking to an attorney and trying to find a new HT doctor who will do what I wish and pay attention to detail.

Spashop.com.ua, Venko.com.ua, Newfacebeauty.pl, Ukrmedgarant.com.ua.
