I don't believe that at all. I definitely attribute the growth of my hair to my momma's genes, my sisters, mother and I all do very different things to our hair which is usually mostly nothing at all and we all have hair or have had hair at very nice lengths.

And even when you look at strangers mothers and daughters generally have the same types of hair with lengths comparable to each others. I know that doesn't always happen.

I mean I wouldn't say that just because your mom has short hair you can't grow long hair but maybe you can't grow your hair long without a lot of work??

:)lol I don't know, I don't really know what I'm talking about I just find that info hard to believe. I would like to see where that info came from because I just don't believe it.

I just thought it was an interesting quote and I believe it. Just because every woman in your family has short hair, doesn't mean you can't get hair that's just a little bit longer than theirs. Even if it's an inch or two, it's still longer. You know what I mean?

I totally agree with the doctor and Belle. I never really liked when people would make this statement about those wanting long hair and not being able to achieve it. It always seemed like something people would say to shoot people down.

And I always say that, "we usually don't have a problem growing hair, the problem lies in keeping it on our heads".

Also many speak of having a healthy diet and popping pills. That's not really necessary if you live a clean lifestyle to begin with and even eat marginally healthy. I could see the statement being useful if directed towards those who eat nothing but junk, smoke, do drugs, or have a serious health condition but for those of us that none of those things apply, popping 10 pills a day and only eating fish is a bit extreme just for some hair.

I read her book "Black Woman's Guide to Beautiful Hair" it was so infromative. It made me realize what can really damage my hair and how to get it more healthier.
